Matt was lucky enough to get a 9 days off for the holidays (December 22-30) so we decided to travel to see the Rodgers sides of the family for Christmas. Before heading to Newburgh we had our own mini celebration at home and gave the boys their big presents from us! They also got to open some holiday mail from great grandparents... money to go shopping! While Micah doesn't really fully understand money, he thought the card was a special book that he carried around asking it to be read to him. So cute! Micah and I then spent a day baking and decorating Christmas cookies to take with us. I'm pretty sure getting to taste test them was Micah's favorite part :) Finally, on Friday December 22 we took the boys to Carillon Historical Park's Christmas village after dark and walked around looking at the lights, eating delicious donuts, learning a bit about history (especially trains and airplanes), watching a puppet show, and the big highlight of the night: riding on the Christmas train! It was basically a large scale model train that ran a loop around the end of the park through Christmas light tunnels. We had to hold on tight but it was so much fun! They had a whole transportation building and the really wonderful employees there ran the steam train an extra time just for Micah to watch it work. Then in the aviation building we got to see the actual airplane that the Wright brothers first got to truly fly! A close second in excitement for Micah was the puppet show. He had never seen one before and got really excited watching it unfold. We'll definitely be back again next year!
