After the Christmas celebrations, my family planned a Baby Shower for Baby Rodgers on Saturday. The family stayed, and some friends joined us, for a fabulous afternoon of catching up, laughter, and gifts for Baby Rodgers. However, the most special gift of all was the alphabet letters my family and friends decorated to put on the nursery wall to complete my alphabet themed nursery. Many members contributed by decorating a letter of the alphabet with their own personal flare, and they all turned out beautifully! I am so touched to have such a wonderful keepsake to put on the wall of our nursery for all of our children to enjoy.
Unfortunately, saying goodbye to many family members came all too soon. And now Matt, Baby, and I are down to just parents and some siblings and grandparents around for the week. Which after the craziness of the previous week is a little more relaxing. Unfortunately, Matt got sick with a virus that took him out for about 72 hours Sunday thru today, so the week thus far has been a bit dismal. I took the down time to look through my shower gifts more closely and pack them up for the trip home. Baby Rodgers is definitely going to be well cared for!
Speaking of Baby Rodgers, Baby has been very active this week, and many members of the family have gotten to feel Baby kicking. Baby is now about the size of a head of lettuce (14 inches long and almost 2 pounds), and has improved hearing so that he or she can listen to conversations taking place between Mom and others. Baby is also preparing to open his or her eyes, and is now taking regular breaths of amniotic fluid to practice for breathing outside the womb.
