We spent the drizzly weekend in Hocking Hills State Park with Nana and Grandad and had a blast exploring all of the rock formations/caves. We all stayed in a cabin together, enjoying fires and s'mores of course. We also go a lot of hiking in with the boys, who were able to walk the majority of the time since many of our hikes were shorter. Micah, especially, had a blast with all of the climbing and stairs required on this hilly terrain!

We have spent the last couple of weeks at home, relaxing, and enjoying time outside. Ezra got his own helmet and has just taken off on the balance bike. He actually lifts his feet up and glides now just like Micah! The boys have also been helping me cook up our homemade dinners using recipes from their Radish Kids boxes they are getting in the mail. They have been delicious! And, of course, we have been hiking, visiting parks, and enjoying time at a newfound nature center that the boys love.
The boys also started swim lessons this month which has been an event, that is for sure. I get in with Ezra and help him through his class which goes pretty well except that Ezra hates getting out of the water when it is time to... Micah's in a class with a swim instructor and no mom for the first time and that has proven to be a challenge. He has cried for the first 2 classes (the entire class) and hasn't wanted to even be in the water. The instructor is great, and after talking to Micah we are going to try goggles next class to see if that makes him more comfortable. As you can see from the pictures below, we have been practicing with them, and they have been a hit! In other updates, Micah is Mr. Speedy on the bike now and could easily ride a 2 wheel bike if we got him one. It's so fun to see him having such a good time and riding around the neighborhood with Matt. Vehicles of all kinds are still Micah's favorite, and he spends hours playing with them and reading about them each day. Micah continues to be Mr. Inquisitive as well and pretty much follows up all statements made to him with "why?". He has also recently decided to be a parrot and now repeats all things said to him, typically with the repeated information being directed at Ezra... since apparently Ezra needs to hear the directions from me and Micah (poor Ezra). And the best part about Micah currently has got to be his singing. He loves to sing songs that we have sung during the day, but if he can't remember how it goes exactly he just makes up the words or inserts sounds. It's pretty fabulous to listen to, lol. Ezra is a mimicking machine. He has picked up the balance bike in no time, and he can now count to 10 without help thanks to Micah's continued repetition of counting all day long. Ezra is, of course, a big boy now and can do all things "by self", except of course when he chooses not to and wants "mamas" to do it (yep, I'm called "mamas" all day except when he's really upset and then I'm "mommyyyyy"). Ezra is really into farm animals and the sounds they make so we talk about that a lot and have been to visit the farm a few times as well. And if Micah is the singer of our family, Ezra is the dancer. He tells me daily, "songs! I wanna dance!" which is my cue to turn on music, lol. Both boys have been enjoying the play kitchen a lot recently and making food for picnics. They typically get along well, except when they don't and it's mass screaming throughout the house. Micah and Ezra both like things done their way in particular circumstances and it's been a struggle to learn to compromise through those. Both boys have also been enjoying the library a lot. Story time is something we have gone to for a long time, but they are both finally into it and have a lot of fun. They also love to pick out books at the library now too, and our daily reading time has picked up. A day after my return from Colorado, the boys and I packed up and drove to Pittsburgh to spend the week with Nana and Grandad while Matt worked a long string of night shifts (have you ever tried to keep two boys quiet during the day while Dad sleeps? Not happening.) Unfortunately, the Wainman family went on vacation the day after we arrived, but the boys got to play together some, which of course they loved. Micah took over their battery powered jeep and drove it around the cul-de-sac like a pro (seriously, I'd trust this guy with a golf cart at this point since he can even shift gears). Nana and Grandad had to work some during the week, but we also got to go on some adventures while there too. First up, we went to the Children's Museum to check out the Thomas Exhibit, play in their water play area, and check out the climbing maze. I don't have any pictures, but they had a really cool table where you could make your own circuits and Micah was pretty enthralled with that for quite a while too. The next day we hit up the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, which was huge. We spent five hours roaming by animal exhibits and playing in various play areas in the zoo. The boys had a blast, and according to Micah, the sharks were his favorite animal that he saw, lol. However, I'm pretty sure he spent more time checking out the giant catfish below.... We had a few other small excursions/activities during the week as well. We of course had to visit a playground, where Ezra found the teeter totter very relaxing. We spent another hot afternoon playing on the water slide/slip n slide in the yard, and Micah found a tractor to ride when out shopping another day. Our final morning in Pittsburgh we went to Moraine State Park and biked 10 miles with the boys in the bike trailer. They had never ridden in one before and they LOVED it: "We're going so fast mommy!" We took a break in the middle to check out the lake too. Definitely a fun week!
