In Milwaukee, we went by our old house and played at the neighborhood playground before meeting some of my fellow teachers for dinner. We then headed to another fellow teacher's house, Anna, where we stayed with her and her family for a few days. Her daughter, Natalie, got along really well with the boys, so they had a blast together. They took us to visit Old World Wisconsin and we played on their neighborhood playground. Micah also loved their new backyard sandbox and all the fresh vegetables that came out of their garden. We then met up with more of my colleagues and checked out my old classroom and got lunch. Micah also went back to say hello to Roxanne, the woman who watched him in her home while I worked my last year of teaching. Lots of memories. Definitely miss my fellow teachers.
After all the fun it was time to head home. We stopped by my friend Krista's house on the way home for a night to break the trip up. She was a gracious host to the tired boys who showed up. Before we left the next day she took us to a large park nearby to play and tour the small zoo. Then it was sleep time for the boys as I drove us home!
Over all the boys were fabulous for the road trip. I timed driving to correlate with naps and they slept 75% of all the driving, which was awesome. Newly potty-trained Micah didn't have any car accidents and did a great job the whole trip! It felt good to get home to Dad though!
Over the last week, Ezra has gotten stronger and is able to sit up for periods of time all alone (with occasional tipping). He also got to start solids when we got home, which is an adventure, haha. He isn't taking to solids quite as readily as Micah did. The avocado, applesauce, yogurt, and banana have been no-gos, but strawberries were more readily liked. We'll keep trying. No teeth yet, so he prefers to just suck on the foods!
Micah is going through a drawn-out Mama phase that has lasted about a month thus far. It unfortunately involves night wakings just to make sure I'm still in the house in addition to the usual not being able to leave his sight for longer than 2 minutes at a time. Needless to say I'm feeling VERY sleep deprived between Micah and Ezra needing to eat at night still. Micah is still a huge fan of singing all day, and has recently started talking in complete sentences almost all of the time. Never a dull moment!
