On Friday we met our friends at COSI in Columbus, OH to explore the museum and specifically to see their Big Machines exhibit. Micah had a blast (though I think he was a little starstruck) at getting to operate a digger in front of the museum. We also explored some of the young kid-friendly exhibits before driving home (we didn't even make it to the interstate before the back seat got REALLY quiet ;) )
What a crazy week! It started off innocent enough: making dinner together and going on a family hike to Charleston Falls midweek... but it quickly escalated into a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of back to back fun! On Friday we met our friends at COSI in Columbus, OH to explore the museum and specifically to see their Big Machines exhibit. Micah had a blast (though I think he was a little starstruck) at getting to operate a digger in front of the museum. We also explored some of the young kid-friendly exhibits before driving home (we didn't even make it to the interstate before the back seat got REALLY quiet ;) ) On Saturday, Nana and Grandad joined us at the Rail Fest at Carillon Historical Park. We got to ride the miniature trains and watch, and even drive some of, the model trains. The boys were totally fascinated and had a blast. After naps we went to Siebenthaler Fen Park and walked the boardwalk around the wetland area. We discovered that our area has a whole network of wetland parks that we have never been to, so more parks to explore! Sunday brought the loudest fun in the form of the Dayton Air Show. Matt had to work, but the rest of us headed to the show nice and early (we learned the hard way last year that traffic is no joke) and explored the many airplanes and helicopters set up for people to look at and walk through. The boys thought they were pretty hot stuff "flying" the helicopter. We cooled off in the kids' tent and played with bubbles and sand before heading back to the chalet for the residents and enjoying our lunch. Then it was show time and boy did it get loud! The boys had ear protection though and had a good time watching all the planes, helicopters, and parachuters perform. After the show we headed over to the country club for a residency picnic and swim. We were all pooped after this crazy fun weekend!

That's an incredible variety of experiences and lots of fun with many things we've never even done before! ;-)

We don't like to stay home, and there is always a lot to do for cheap or free, so we try to take advantage!
