On Monday (Day 3), we decided to take a boat out to Flowerpot Island, an island named for the rock structures carved out of the shore by the water. Now the boat was a "glass-bottomed" boat, but in reality the glass portion was a small square in the middle of the boat that about 10 people could sit around, and the rest of us were just out of luck. Fortunately, the water is very clear up around the peninsula, so looking over the side provided great views too. You want great views because the whole water area is a national park due to the abundant ship wrecks in the area. The boat takes you by several of the ship wrecks on the way to Flowerpot Island. It was pretty cool, and would be even cooler if you were a diver because many of the wrecks are pretty deep!
Once we hit the island, we decided to do the loop trail around to the lighthouse and keeper's house, as well as along the large flowerpot looking structures the island was named after. The hike was beautiful. I had no idea the water was so clear up here and so blue. It was cold, but Micah loved splashing in it all the same. As we waited for the boat to take us back, Micah made some friends with 2 boys from another family that were also waiting. They ran and played on the docks for 30 minutes!
That night, we made a fire out by the lake and Micah got to have his first s'mores experience. He loved them and Ezra got very vocal about not also being allowed one, but was quickly pacified with a graham cracker ;) Poor guy just wants to be like Micah!
