Sunday brought the most challenging family hike of the trip, Bear Mountain. Only a 5 mile hike round trip, but extremely steep, it was definitely a challenge with the boys. We carried them basically the entire hike, which was a lot of extra weight when all you're doing is going up, up, up. The views were gorgeous though, and we got lots of comments of amazement that we were hauling small children up the mountain, lol! Nana even had to add a twist of excitement and fell into a cactus which required some careful removal of the cactus spines by Grandad and Matt. After another nap break we decided to hike Devil's Bridge in the late afternoon once the crowds had died down. It was a very flat hike until the very end, so both boys hiked a good portion of it and would have loved to hike it all but the steep drop offs were a bit much. Better to be safe on our backs!
Monday was our final day in Arizona and we hiked Faye Canyon before making the drive back to Phoenix for our flight. It was another short, flat hike that the boys got to walk some of. Micah, of course, found more dirt and sand to play in along the trail as well. Until next time, Arizona!
