This week Matt worked his first 30 hour overnight shift on trauma surgery, so Baby and I had an evening to ourselves. I wish I could say Baby and I partied it up.... but after dinner with a fellow teacher, we fell asleep on the couch watching HGTV... at 8 PM... Yep, I'm a pregnant lady! Fortunately, on Saturday morning Matt got off in time to get a little sleep and then head to the real party - Evelyn's first birthday! This is the first of two one-year birthdays we are celebrating this month, as we are good friends with two other couples who both had baby girls a year ago. It was great to see them all again because we've all been so busy since the holidays that it's been awhile! Plus watching the little ladies grow has given me a lot of good information about what our little one will be up to in the next year!
This week was also a big week because yesterday we attended our first childbirth class! We got to learn what to look for when I go into labor, how to handle labor, and of course the ever famous birthing video. I think they must show it around this time in a pregnancy just to give the woman a second thought about "ok, maybe I can wait another 8 weeks to go through with this..." Of course the biggest message the class sends is that the baby is coming soon!
Speaking of Baby, Baby must of grown a lot this week, because I feel as if my belly has popped even more! Baby is approximately 4ish pounds by now, and should have enough fat on his or her body so that the skin is no longer see-through. (I can't believe in the last 8 weeks Baby's weight is basically going to double still!) Baby is busy practicing habits for life outside the womb, such as breathing, sucking, and swallowing.
